iOS 8.4.1 Battery Drain

The iOS 8.4.1 update has been heavily criticised and said to be unnecessary by the users, because instead of fixing the existent bugs, the update introduced some more. One of those issues is the battery draining issue, which causes a full-charged iPhone 6 battery to drain out in just one hour !

However, some users have reportedly solved the issue using a few simple solutions. So in case your iOS 8.4.1 device is running out of juice abnormally quickly, then the following solutions will help you out.

Hard Reboot Your iOS Device :

The first solution of all is a hard reboot. Try hard rebooting your device by holding down theHome and Power buttons together until your device shuts down completely and then restarts again automatically. Release the buttons only when the Apple logo is displayed.

Reset iOS Settings :

Resetting all the iOS settings to factory default can help erase the battery draining issue. This does not cause the data to get erased. See if the issue gets resolved using this process.

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. reset_all_settings_ios 9

Clean Restore to iOS 8.4.1 :

OTA firmware updates are known to cause issues sometimes. So performing a clean restore can be a way to deal with some issues.

  1. Firstly, download the iOS 8.4.1 ipsw firmware file for your specific device model from the given link
  2. Connect your iOS device to your computer and open iTunes.
  3. Hold the Alt | Option key  [if on Mac OS X ]or Shift key [ if on Windows ] and simultaneously click on the Restore iPhone button. itunes restore
  4. Now just select the ipsw file that you download and your iOS device will be restored to a fresh iOS 8.4.1 firmware. ipsw select update itunes

Downgrade to iOS 8.4 :

In case none of the above solutions work for you, then the only solution left is to leave iOS 8.4.1 and downgrade to iOS 8.4.

iOS 8.4 is still being signed , so you can easily downgrade right now  not being signed any more . Remember that If all of the above steps fail, it is probably best to downgrade iOS and see if that fixes the battery drain problem. Unfortunately, iOS 8.4 is not being signed by Apple any more , which means as of this writing you cannot downgrade from iOS 8.4.1 back to iOS 8.4.

Apple Support :

If any solution does not work for you and the battery still runs out of juice too quickly, then you should visit the Apple Service Center.
